The goal of HmongHealth.org and the Hmong Health Education Network is to provide access to health information for Hmong people and those who provide health, education and social services to the Hmong community. The website is managed by the Wausau Area Hmong Mutual Assistance Association (WAHMA), with funding for the Hmong Health Education Network from the National Library of Medicine (NLM). The project is guided by the Hmong Health Steering Committee representing our partners. Many of our partners are contributing resources and services beyond the NLM funding, and we are seeking additional funding. If interested in joining this network, please contact Peter Yang or Margaret (Peg) Allen.

History

Paj Vav Ntawv Peb
The Hmong Health Information Promotion project began in July 2001, when several of the partners worked with the Northern Wisconsin Area Health Education Center (NAHEC) to develop a proposal in response to an NLM request for quotations for minority consumer health information projects. Based on the success of this two-year model project, NLM requested a proposal for continued funding. The NLM Office of Specialized Information Services approved initial funding for the Hmong Health Education Network in September 2003. Project management was transferred to the Wausau Area Hmong Mutual Association in October 2005.

Los txog rau lub 9 hlis xyoo 2003 peb no, NAHEC tseem tau kev pab cuam los ntawm NLM.
